GEAR LIST FOR ALASKA HUNT WITH LITZEN GUIDE SERVICE

** Please keep your gear to under 50 lbs. Peninsula Airways has a two bag, 50 pound weight limit and one of your bags will be your gun case. You may also have one carry-on. It may be necessary to pack a few things in your gun case to bring it up to 50 lbs.

** Please pack your gear in medium and small stuff sacks inside a larger duffel bag. You must be able to separate the bags to put your gear into the bush plane. (Try to fit 2-3 sleeping bag size bags into one larger bag)

** Layer your clothing - Cotton is NOT recommended.

 1. Good quality rain gear - Bibs or loose fitting waist pants. Rubberized Light Weight Helly Hansen -  Improtect recommended. No poncho style rain slickers. They are not suitable for the wind and brush.

 2. Medium field coat or parka with hood. This coat should be as compactable as possible.

 3. Wool hat, brimmed cap and baseball hat.

 4. One pair of warm gloves or mittens and waterproof gloves.

 5. One heavy wool sweater or pile recommended. These are very good under rain gear as they wick moisture out and dry quickly.

 6. Two field shirts.

 7. Two pairs of pants.

 8. One set of long underwear.

 9. Six pairs of heavy wool or comparable socks.

10. Goretex hunting boots such as the mountain hunter for Caribou/Moose and Koflachs(optional) for Sheep. These boots should be well broke in.

11. Comfortable shoes for around camp.

12. Sleeping bag (polar guard or hollofil) rated to -10 degrees. A mummy style bag is preferable. (+10 degrees OK for sheep hunt).

13. Therm-a-rest or other light, compact sleeping pad. ** Not too thick

14. Full Size External frame backpack capable of carrying your personal items, sleeping bag and sleeping pad.

15. Small led headlamp and one mini mag or compact flashlight.

16. One thermal space blanket, 6 X 8 or 8 X 10. These make good ground clothes for sitting on. (Optional)

18. Compact rifle cleaning kit

19. Hip Boots: Sheep hunters must have Koflachs with Glacier Socks or some light weight means for stream crossing. You must be able to cross steams in the boots. The outfitter recommends the Lacrosse brand or Cabela's name brand ankle fit or contour fit insulated hip boots. Please call with any questions.

20. One small hunt knife and sharpening steel.

21. Water bottle and water purifier pump or bottle.

22. Binoculars, 8 X 32 or 8 X10 are recommended.

23. Rifle - .338 Win Mag., 30.06, 7MM Mag., 300 Win. Mag. These are recommended calibers. Bring 40 rounds of ammo. *Discuss with outfitter.

24. Camera and extra batteries.

25. Personal items including lip balm, lotion, sunglasses, pain reliever, sunscreen, insect repellant, blister kit, reading material.

Please Note: Before arriving in camp you must have your hunting license, metal locking tag and corresponding harvest ticket or you will not be able to hunt.

**The items on this list are essential.

** Remember: You must pack compact.

** This is an approximate gear list for you to follow. Please contact your outfitter, Mike Litzen at 907-776-5868 to get an exact list for the time of year you are hunting and the species.
