PRIVATE LAND BEAR HUNTS ON THE ALASKA PENINSULA BY BOAT

This hunt on the pacific side of the Alaska Peninsula is truly unique. Litzen Guide Service has exclusive rights to 75 miles of prime Brown bear coastline. A 58-foot boat is used as a floating hunting lodge to access the private hunting area. From the boat, beaches and hills are glassed, while slowly cruising down the shorelines. Upon spotting a bear, the hunter and guide take to the shore by skiff to make the stalk. We also have known glassing locations where we often spend the day hunting. At the end of the day we hike to the beach and radio the boat for a skiff ride back to the Patricia Ann.

Litzen Guide Service has a high success rate of 95% over the last 20 years on really good bears. Ten-foot bears are not uncommon. Brown bear success rates for October 2011 were 86%, (6 for 7) with an 8’ 6” average, 9’ 6” was the largest. All clients had 100% opportunity. Fall 2009 success rates were 6 for 7 with an 8’ 7” average. May 2010 success rate was 8 for 10 with over 9' average. While on board, clients may fish for halibut and cod, and in the fall help pull crab pots for fresh Dungeness crab. If you are through with tents in harsh weather environments, treat yourself to the comfort and effectiveness of hunting by boat. Land camps, tents and cabin also available.

      HUNT DATES: Fall, October 1st - 10th, 10 hunting-days,
                            Spring, May 10th - 18th, 9 hunting-days
                            May, 19th - 25th, 7 hunting-days

      SEASON: Odd numbered years, October 1st - 21st
                      Even numbered years May 10th - 25th

It is recommended for all hunters to schedule on extra day in Anchorage at the end of their hunt to facilitate arrangements with service providers for meat and trophy care.

Not Included in Hunt Rates:

Transportation - Fly from Anchorage to Sand Point with Peninsula Airways - approximately $864 RT, be sure to request a lodge fare.
Outfitter will meet you in Sand Point, Alaska.

License & Tags - Unlimited tags are available online or can be purchased upon arrival in Anchorage.
License @ $85 & Brown bear tag @ $500 These fees are subject to change.
